Pauley Symposium and Lecture
Organized in memory of University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumnus Carroll R. Pauley (class of 1930), the Pauley Symposium takes place every three years on the University campus. Pauley memorial lectures are held in the years between the symposia. Both events feature a wide variety of speakers addressing current research in history and other social sciences, engaging both academics and the general public in an open discussion of the relationship between the past and the present.
Belousek Lecture
The Frank A. Belousek Lecture supports speakers engaged with Czech History in the Department of History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Frank A. Belousek (1902-1982) was a native Czechoslovakian, naturalized American citizen, and University of Nebraska alumnus (1923). His generosity advances the study of the Czech heritage and perpetuates its legacy and contributions to the state of Nebraska and the region of the Great Plains. The Belousek Fund was established in October 1985 for the Department of History by the University of Nebraska Foundation.
James A. Rawley Graduate Conference in the Humanities
Professor Emeritus James A. Rawley was a department member from 1964 until 2005, specializing in the Civil War era and American race relations. The Annual James A. Rawley Graduate Conference in the Humanities serves both as a way to honor Dr. Rawley, as well as encourage future scholarship in a variety of disciplines.
