Tony Foreman is a History PhD Student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and advisee of Professor Gerald Steinacher.  His research interests include modern German history, European immigration to America, the Holocaust, German military honor codes, and espionage history.  As a recipient of the Othmer Fellowship for Exceptional Scholars and the Christian Leiding Fellowship, Tony has conducted original research in German, British, and Nebraskan archives.  His prospective dissertation will explore how the concept of honor has affected the ethics and image of the German military and how honor has been used to celebrate or justify the actions of German military personnel.  Tony’s first book, The Greatest Undertaking:  The Unique History of the Nebraska Forest Service, will be published in 2017.
