BIO

Kelley Clausing is a Ph.D. student specializing in 19th-century U.S history. Her particular interests lie in the history of American slavery, Midwestern history, and Illinois history. In her first year, she is a graduate research assistant with the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities.

Prior to pursuing doctoral studies at UNL, Clausing worked as a historical documentary editor with The Papers of Abraham Lincoln at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL.

She earned her MA in history from the University of Illinois-Springfield. Her master’s thesis, entitled “A Phalanx Disintegrated: Utopian Socialism in Sanagamon County, Illinois,” was designated the Outstanding Master’s Thesis from the History Department.
