BIO
Julian Gillilan is a third-year doctoral student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His research interests include 19th and 20th Central European history and Austrian Studies. Julian is advised by Prof. Gerald Steinacher, and his dissertation research focuses on Austrian Pan-Germanism and cultural despair in fin-de-siècle Austria. Last summer, Julian was a fellow at the Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization at Northwestern University and also studied intensive Czech at the Summer School for Slavonic Studies at Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where he received his bachelor's degree and master’s degrees in History and German Studies. He is also an alumnus of the BGSU academic year abroad program in Salzburg, Austria and has also completed graduate-level work at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Prior to joining the doctoral program at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Julian worked as the Education Abroad Student Advisor at BGSU.
