James LeSueur, chair and Samuel Clark Waugh Distinguished Professor of International Relations in the Department of History, was invited to participate at the Oxford Union debate on November 3 on the motion "This House Blames Western Lenders for the Plight of Developing Countries."

The Oxford Union was founded by a group of students in 1823 to protest against Oxford University’s rules surrounding the discussion of religion and politics. The Union remains a place where students can make their voices heard by debating the most important and topical issues against leading figures. They have hosted world leaders, iconic figures, musical stars, and more.
