Colloquium on Racial Justice is Nov. 13

The Institute for Ethnic Studies’ next Colloquium on Racial Justice, "How Dissolving an Office of Diversity and Inclusion Affects Faculty at a Big Ten Institution," will be on Wednesday, November 13 in the City Union Swanson Auditorium from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The event will open with a brief welcome and description of the Institute’s role in the founding of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), and then each panelist will speak for three or four minutes on how the closing of the ODI is affecting them personally and/or professionally:

  • Sergio Wals, Latino and Latin American Studies, Political Science
  • Jeannette Jones, African and African American Studies, History
  • Trey Andrews, Latino and Latin American Studies, Psychology
  • Liahnna Stanley, Indigenous Studies, Communication Studies
  • Cynthia Willis-Esqueda, Indigenous Studies, Psychology
  • Luis Othoniel Rosa, Latino and Latin American Studies, Modern Languages and Literatures

The discussion will be opened to audience faculty members, including chairs, directors, and other administrators.

The Institute for Ethnic Studies is a forward-looking, solution-focused academic unit. We well know the necessity and value of acknowledging our shared history as we imagine and work toward a better future.
