Major: History and Anthropology

Minor: Architecture

Sidney Wickham is a second-year student majoring in History and Anthropology with a minor in Architecture. This semester, she is earning Honors credit by working for Dr. Laura Muñoz in the History Department. Her research focuses on Mexican-American segregation and the role of schools and teachers within that history.

Sidney shared, “We are seeking to solve the question: What are all the different Mexican-American schools and teachers in the past? Mexican-American history has long been forgotten, so bringing the information in one place would help more people understand what school and their lives were like.”

Her dedication to her academic and career goals has helped her gain opportunities within Honors and her career. Sidney has plans to go to Tuscany and Rome for an archaeological field school this summer to gain more hands-on learning and research experiences. She added, “I am always trying to go above and beyond in my studies, and having experiences like this means a lot to me.”
