BIO

North Oldham is currently a graduate student at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln earning his Ph.D. in History with specializations in 19th Century Studies, Great Plains Studies, and the American West. His research is focused on colonialism and indigenous people around the world with specific attention given to displaced Native Americans through western expansion. North graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University with his B.A. in History with Highest Honors. His focus as an undergraduate was the 19th century, specifically the Civil War and Reconstruction and how it related to the American Indian.

As a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, North has conducted considerable research on his own tribe and their experiences from European contact, their removal from Mississippi, to Oklahoma statehood. Continuing the Choctaw tradition of community service, North has volunteered extensively at historic sites and state parks in Texas.
