BIO

Miriam Nieto López is a second-year history master’s student and the advisee of Dr. James Garza. She received her BA in 7-12 Social Sciences and K-12 English as a Second Language from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Miriam is currently focusing on the literary works and organizations of Middle East immigrants to Mexico during the 1880s-1950s. Miriam is also obtaining a specialization in Ethnic Studies as her research involves various ethnicities intermingling with each other, sometimes clashing. Her specialization also stems from her passion for advocacy, social justice, and human rights. Miriam serves as co-chair for the 2023 James A. Rawley Graduate Conference.
