Deparment undergraduates, Graduates, Faculty and Staff visited Omaha to talk to prospective students about majoring in history. The Big Red Road Show, in it's 11th season, allows Omaha-area Nebraskans a chance to learn about the diversity of majors and potential careers available at the University.
The over a dozen department members who attended emobodied a variety of fields, interests, and career paths to help inform prospective students and their families about the opportunities in history. Besides formal historical fields--academia and public historical work being the most notable--a history degree prepares students well for a wide variety of jobs in the public sector, from intelligence analysts to law enforcement. A facilty for writtern argumentation and critical analysis prepares students well for just about any career, and is valuable in life, generally.
