I am interested in the intersection of race, politics, and the law. I especially love researching the 1930s-1960s because of the social changes engendered by African American activism. However, because of my interest in politics and law, I usually look at these changes from the top down.
Despite my interests in the period above, I have chosen to move back in time for my dissertation to explore legal issues during Reconstruction. Specifically, I am looking at a Supreme Court case originating in Kentucky-Blyew vs. United States.
