Brent Rogers is a Ph.D. student studying Nineteenth Century United States and Western American history. Brent's current research focuses on the occupation of Utah Territory by United States federal troops in 1857. He seeks to understand this event in a broader context of national expansion, the creation of an American West, imperial ideology, and colonial/post-colonial struggles. Brent's minor field covers comparative world history with emphasis in colonial and post-colonial experiences. Additionally, Brent is highly interested in the tools and techniques of digital history and the ways that it can help inform his research and engage readers of his future scholarship.
